Hello
The Sanctuary is a non profit organisation that does not receive government founding. the Sanctuary is dependent on community and voluntary support.
The Sanctuary has several wellbeing programmes such as the Friends of the Sanctuary programme, The Caregiver Programme and the Warrior and free community online and onsite meditation sessions that reach those in most need.
Since March 2020, The Sanctuary has expanded its ability to reach those who are unable to access our physical premises due to Covid 19 and/or living remotely, through the introduction of free community online meditation sessions, a selection of live broadcasted wellbeing courses, self-care resources and a Befriending Programme that support to people who are lonely or isolated .
Have a look at some of the work we have been doing:
-
Online Community Sessions: The rising need for mental health support is evident in the unprecedent response to our online services. There are almost 3000 people registered for our free friends of the Sanctuary online community meditation sessions and each week we support and help sustain the wellbeing of over 500 people who attend these free online and onsite community meditation sessions. We receive consistent feedback that these sessions reduce isolation and provide an accessible community that acts as a refuge to many.
-
Befriending Service: Part of the Friends of the Sanctuary programme, the Befrienders, is a group of volunteers who wish to extend the hand of friendship to others by carrying out regular visits to people living in the Dublin 7 area who are experiencing social exclusion and mental health difficulties. (So if you have a client who would benefit from a weekly visit, cup of tea and a chat who lives in Dublin 7 please let us know and we can match them with a befriender).
-
Caring for The Caregiver: We have also delivered our Caring for the Caregiver Programme to many organizations in need. This practical, innovative programme supports many different social care, youth and health organisations including the National Youth Council of Ireland, Tallaght Hospital Emergency Department, the HSE, Coeliac Society of Ireland, TU Dublin and Family Carers Ireland.
Without your support we would not be able to run these programmes so thank you!
