The Labyrinth

The word labyrinth comes from the Greek word labyrinthos and the first mention dates back to Greek mythology 800BC.

To walk a labyrinth is to step into an ancient spiritual space and make it a personal journey of discovery and exploration.

Labyrinths are ancient spiritual pathways found across the world and embraced in Medieval times and since, as a path of prayer and reflection.

Today, there are over 6000 labyrinths worldwide.

Walking the labyrinth is a journey. As you move through it you are invited to let go of worries, tensions or concerns and be open to new inspirations or insights.

The Sanctuary labyrinth is one of the newer ones, created in 2020.

It is a classical design based on the Labyrinth at Chartres Cathedral in France. However, unlike some labyrinths you do not retrace your steps, rather you move through three circles, one circle leading to another and on to the next, offering spaces for reflection, beauty and stillness in our very busy world

Before walking the labyrinth: Pause & take a few moments to bring to mind an intention and invite it to accompany you as you journey.
